Traditional beam and block flooring involves laying precast and prestressed concrete beams across or between walls at carefully calculated distances. The gaps are then infilled with concrete blocks.

One of the main advantages is, that because they are laid using pre-prepared concrete T-beams, they are installed quickly, especially when compared to wet poured concrete slab floors. As all the materials supplied are dry, once the floor has been laid and grouted, it can be used straight away, if preferred, minimising disruption to business. Insulation is usually positioned on top of the laid beam and block floor; a concrete screed is then laid onto the insulation. In addition, beam and block flooring is extremely durable and hard wearing, perfect for busy warehouses and industrial units where heavy machinery and traffic are constant challenges. It is also unaffected by cold or wet weather, so it will continue to perform well even in sweltering heat or excessive cold and will not develop any mould or rot.
